Today is a very special day- it’s my Grannys birthday! Her name was Eliza and she is who our “Eliza Cuff” is named in tribute to. She shared a birthday with her first born son, my uncle, and they would always try to celebrate the day together. No one in the family could ever forget April 26th!
My Granny passed away Dec 2010 and life hasn’t been the same without her. I spent a lot of time with her growing up, and would go see her in South Jersey every single school break I had. There was nothin’ better then being with my Granny & I looked up to her so much. She nurtured my creative side and always encouraged me to pursue my passions. As a kid, she would be my audience to sing and dance to, do magic for, write stories for, color and draw with. She bought me tons of little art sets and taught me how to sew. We made pillows and stuffed animals together. She always pretended to like my food that I cooked for her
The memories with my Granny are endless and I never really thought about the fact that there would eventually come a day when she wouldn’t be here anymore…
As I got older, I always sought her approval for every decision I made, and it meant a lot to me that she believed in MAINTENANCE ever since I first told her about it.
She did not get to see our designs, website, or watch us launch the brand but she did, however, get to meet Kristian and get to see our then un-named cuff and even try it on! My sister, Tina, suggested that we name the bracelet after her and she would have been so touched by that.
Words cant express how lost and broken I sometimes feel without her, but when I wear the cuff, it’s comforting to know that I’m wearing the exact same one that she tried on one afternoon in September…
Granny- I love and miss you more then words can express and I wouldn’t be the strong and passionate person that I am today without you.
